Harmony Festival
On March 10, 2007, the Hermosa Beach Playhouse held a concert where beautiful music was made, and the only instruments used was the human voice!
Trist Curless and Jeff Smith of the group "m-pact" back up Britt Quentin (r) as he takes the lead on the song "Aint nobody does it better."
Trist and Jeff are more than just backup singers...they are the bass line and percussion for Britt.
Britt puts extra effort into it...
Brian Atkinson steps out in front for "Baby, I need your loving."
Marco Cassone (center) steps up during the "m-pact" set that opened the festival.
"Renaissance," did a marvelous set of "street corner style" a cappella music, during the show...
...and afterwords in the lobby. "Renaissance" consists of Maurice Kitchen, Torre Brannon, Kwame Alexander, Anthony Snead, and Sonny Banks.
Hosts of the festival were the group "Hi-Fidelity," who performed a hilarious spoof of Star Trek members doing barbershop harmony.
The group members, Gregg Bernhard, Martin Fredstrom, Tom Moore, and Craig Ewing, encouraged everyone to "Live Long and Prosper."
But the winners of the night were Moira Smiley and Voco (from left, Jessica Catron, Jess Basta, Moira Smiley and Christine Enns).
The ladies wowed the crowd with their unique harmony and songs from Eastern Europe and the Appalachia Mountains.
After the announcement of their victory, Moira and company celebrated with their "Happy Dance."
Fastest feet in the playhouse...
...and a pose for a photograph after the show.
